The Saline County Sheriff’s Reserve Program is an auxiliary unit of our Operations Division. The unit consists of sixteen members at this time. To become a Reserve, you must complete a written application. You are then screened for criminal and driving records. You must pass a written test, be approved by an Oral Interview Board, pass an intensive background screening and take a psychological screening test.
After being approved by the Sheriff, you need to complete the 80 hour Part-time Law Enforcement Course. Each officer then donates sixteen hour per month to actively working at assigned duties and training within the department.
The selection process for new applicants starts in October of each year.
